Nigella sativa, black seed oil, kaonji seeds, an annual herbaceous plant which is believed for its natural habitat to be Mediterranean. It is also grown in other parts of the world such as Saudi Arabia, North Africa and parts of Asia. Thin and hairy, a kaonji seed, black cumin, no larger than 3 mm in length, derived from plants of the family Ranunculaceae herb. B is sometimes mistakenly mixed with Foeniculum vulgare.
